Day 9

We had one more day of California Adventure and Disneyland.  If we thought the two previous days we were in the parks were packed, this day showed them.  It was literally shoulder to shoulder crowed that day.  You could hardly even move. We started bright and early and planned to go strong until closing.  We started the day in California Adventure and went on all our favorite rides at least once more.  When asking the kids which rides that they wanted to go on Cameron named all Fast Pass rides.  Of course.  Lucy had wised up to us and would not get on anything fast or scary.  In order to get everyone's wish lists accomplished we ended up with a split squad part of the day.  Another major objective was to find Dumbo!

The girls were so excited to see these guys.  I didn't even know who they were!  It is obvious that I didn't take them to Zootopia and Katie did!  Lucy didn't want her picture taken with the fox but came around by the time it was our turn.

Can you believe it?? We found our Dumbo!  He was on Paradise Pier at one of the games on the Boardwalk.  You have to play a fair game to win him.  In order to win Dumbo you have to have four players play and the winner gets Dumbo.  There is a place for a 5th person to play but you only need to have four  so Mitch bought tickets for 4 of us to play (Mitch, Cameron, Julia, and Natalie).  Mitch won and Natalie was in HEAVEN.  The best part of the whole deal, it only cost $10.  That is literally the cheapest thing in Disneyland. However,  If you think that was the last of the Dumbo drama think again!  All day Lucy longed to have Dumbo, Natalie wouldn't let her touch Dumbo. Shocking, I know.  By the time we had "hopped" over to Disneyland for the day we still hadn't found Lucy a souvenir.  When it was getting late and we were so tired we could hardly walk Mitch and I decided that it would be worth our efforts to go back to California Adventure and win a Dumbo for Lucy.  Oh the things you will do for your kids! We walked back out of Disneyland into California Adventure, walked all the way down to the end of Paradise Pier hurrying the entire time because the pier closes early due to the World of Color show. Mitch bought four more tickets to play.  At the very last second this small boy and his family came and jump into the 5th seat.  Mitch and I gave each other a look but thought what are the odds?  4-1, that is what.  Well I think you might know how this story ends.  The boy wins.  The rest of us sit in SHOCKED silence because we can't believe what just happened.  We are all so hot and tired that Mitch gets up TICKED and pretty mad.  He tells the girls he isn't going to pay another $10 to play this again and that it is over. The girls start to cry.  The mom of the boy suddenly realizes what just took place and feels really bad.  She offers us the elephant (while her husband is not happy about it and is telling her no).  Normally I would have never accepted it but at that moment and all the drama that this elephant had caused us for days, I took it thanked her and left.  So there you have it.  We have 2 Dumbos and some drama to go with it.

The older kids were SO excited to see Cruelea deVille and Lucy would not go near her

but LOVED Minnie!

Despite being so hot and the crowds, Disneyland was so fun.  There is nothing quite like watching the kids being in Disneyland that makes it all worth it.

Day 9: Last night in our Hyatt House, Room 227, Goodbye California!!
