Another one bites the dust

Julia's tooth has been hanging by a thread for days now.  It is finally out! The other day Julia said "I think I need to see Grandma Swany or Kara, they will be able to get this tooth out!"  Apparently ripping teeth out of my children's mouth is not something I enjoy.  Who knew?!

She has been wearing this tooth necklace she got at the dentist a couple weeks ago for days now waiting to put her tooth inside.  Boy was she excited and more excited that the other top tooth is loose.

Move over Bob Costas...

The kids have been playing "Olympics" all summer long. It has been quite entertaining. Cameron, of course is Bob Costas giving the play by play of everything that is going on. They each pick a new person that they are for the day: Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte, Gabby Douglas, Usain Bolt depending on what sport they are playing. I had to film a little while they were swimming because it was cracking me up. There was a pre-race interview, the race, and then a post-race interview including step-by-step commentary of their training and who they would like to thank. Of course when I brought out the camera to film they would stop, but watching Cameron dive into the pool head first and attempt to swim the butterfly and the backstroke was hilarious.

*Spoiler alert*  Cam is going to be a Olympian for Halloween if his mom can find/make the right costume.  Possibly the fastest man alive...would you expect anything less?

Swany Reunion- The End

We went to the Botanical gardens and hiking while the men went golfing.  Shockingly no one fell in!

Here is Grandpa telling the kids some stories about when he was a little boy living in Bandon.

Bonfire on the beach

We had a fun filled week!!  Lots of games, laughing and crying (that is bound to happen with so many kids!), watching the Olympics, eating and then eating some more, we seriously consumed an entire Costco size can of Que Bueno nacho cheese sauce, shopping, and just LOVING being ALL together. By the end of the week we were sad to have it end!

Thanks for all the memories guys!! We love you and can't wait to do it again!!!!!

Swany Reunion----------- Wildlife Park-Take 2

After scaring the Bejeebers out of our kids last year by taking them to the Safari Wildlife Park in Bandon we took them back this year!  HA!  This time we brought some more cousins with us...

This year was a little better.  The kids were prepared for the "scary" deer walking around.  They had a bunch of baby animals for the kids to hold and pet.  The baby possum was very cute.

This worker's face is a little scary!  But this raccoon was one of my favorites of the day.

After listening to Grandpa tell the kids about his pet bear Honey as a kid, they were excited to meet this guy!

Lucy did NOT enjoy touching the animals, a goat also tried to nibble her toes.

Natalie wanted to ride the camel so badly.  Luck for her she has an Aunt Katie who paid for her to ride!

This guy made me laugh

Swany Reunion- The Beach

The famous face rock!

The Oregon coast is so pretty, we loved exploring the sea caves, climbing on the rocks and looking for all sorts of sea life. We spent a lot of time at the beach!

The kids called this cave "The Cave of Wonders" after the movie Aladdin.

Poor Griff has the smallest bladder of anyone I know, he was constantly needing to go!

Swany Reunion- The docks

One of the favorite things to do while in Bandon was to go crabbing.  The kids loved to go down to the docks, watch and help.  All of the kids became experts on how to measure the crabs to see if they were big enough to keep and how to tell if they were boys or girl crabs (you can only keep the boys).  They were also brave enough to pick them up and throw back the crabs that were too small.

We also met one of the local residents there, George the Pelican. He would sit at the docks and walk around. I don't think I have ever seen a pelican in real life, they are big animals!  Everybody loved George and the kids are still talking about George and his friends.

Swany Reunion- Family Pics

The Schvaneveldt's 2012

Here we are at the lighthouse trying to arrange ourselves for the pictures.  The sun and wind were a bit challenging.   The T-shirts say "Swany established 1975 (The year my parents were married)  On the back of the shirts is the number in which you joined the family.  Mitch was unhappy he didn't crack the top 10 but when the originals Swany's take up the top 9 it is hard to claim that spot.
