For the Record

I despise winter coats, socks and shoes on children and all that goes on to get them to wear them. Just thought you might like to know that.

Our Squirrels

A few weeks ago when we went to Grandma and Grandpa Stuard's house we picked up a few hundred horse chestnuts off of their lawn and brought them home to feed the squirrels in our yard. We lined the fence and all of our stone with nuts and watched and waited for the squirrels. I think that the squirrels thought that they died and went to squirrel heaven. When they found the nuts they went crazy. They were chasing each other and gathering the nuts as fast as they could. By the end of the day the nuts were all gone. The kids and I had a good laugh watching them run back and forth gathering up their treasure of nuts. I don't know where their home is but it is safe to say that they will have plenty of food for the winter. In fact they might need to go on some sort of diet next spring. So if you come to our house and you see unusually pump squirrels you will know why.

The Undaunted

I have a sickness. I love to read and especially historical novels where I learn about something that really happened. This was a good book. The sick part of my story is that I read this book in 4 days! Yes, it is true. Fours days might not sound so bad but it is almost 1,000 pages long. I also didn't read any of it while my kids were awake. So that pretty much left from 8:00 pm -1:00 am and 1-2 hours during nap time for the last fours days of straight reading. I would have liked to slowed down and read at a human speed but I just can't help myself. I now wish that I could go visit this place and see it for myself. It is fascinating story of the pioneers.

Pitter-Pat, Pitter-Pat, It's A Rainy Day

Fall has arrived and after school on Thursday it starting raining and then it started to down pour. We ran outside and enjoyed the rain. The gutters in the street looked like a flash flood had come, it was unbelievable. The kids were in heaven with their own umbrellas and boots to stomp in the puddles. A few weeks ago we bought the big umbrellas from IKEA. They were only $3.99 a piece, what a steal of a deal! Seriously.

Funny

This picture really doesn't have anything to do with anything, I just think it is funny.

On another funny note....
Cameron came home yesterday from school telling me about a fun new game that the boys are playing at recess. It is called "chasing girls." I asked him what he did to the girls after he caught them and he looked at me all serious and said "tagged them, of course." Oh....
We had a little talk about being nice and if the girls wanted him to chase them that it was okay but if they didn't want to be chased then we shouldn't do it. I think this game is as old as time, boys chasing girls.

Cousins: Part 1

Grandpa enjoying his girls.

The blue pj group! Natalie, Ellie, and Lily are only 8 months apart in age but you would never guess that looking at them. (Nothing is more precious than your child holding a plastic rat. Yuck.)

It must be fall in Maple Valley

The wind is howling and pine cones are pelting the rooftops. Ahhh.....

Mini-Mitch

Conversation this afternoon:
Mom: Cameron would you like me to read you your new library book you got today?
Cameron: Could we read it later? I have some stuff to look at.
Mom: Sure, we can do it later. What are you working on?
Cameron: I need to sit at my desk and look at my year book.
Mom: Oh, okay....have fun....

A person only needs to know Mitch to know where this gene comes from. Cam spends probably 10-15 minutes a day at his desk looking over his paperwork. He has also sits at his desk pouring over a pocket size atlas too.

A girl store

Last night for FHE we went to the Super Mall to play in the children's play area. After playing we walked over to the food court and got Dilly Bars from Dairy Queen. While Mitch was standing in line waiting to order I walked over to Claire's to take a look. Cameron came with me and as we were about to walk in the store he said, "Yuck, a girl store I should have stayed with dad. This store is full of princess things!" As I looked around the store, he was right the store is full of crowns, princess wands, feather boas, and girl things. He cracks me up.

A child's prayer

This morning Cameron had a soccer game and got three more goals! He loves to run but he isn't too excited when it is his turn to be a defender (the standing around doesn't excite him). When we got home and had lunch Cameron wanted to say the prayer. He said, "Heavenly Father thank you for helping me get three goals at soccer and for being so impressive." I had to bit my lip not to laugh out loud. He is so cute but realize that I need to work on sportsmanship with him. We had a conversation about being a good teammate by passing the ball, not bragging, and remembering to tell everyone what a good job they have done. I don't think I even need to say this but being a parent is never ending! There is something that needs to be taught or done. Phew...
