Lucy and the computer

Lucy has discovered that the computer has games on it.  She now wants to play on it ALL the time.  She is amazingly good at it and I can't figure out how she even knows what she is doing but she is impressive!! I love her coordination with the mouse.

Blue sky camper, you're one of us...

A few days ago Natalie was telling me that she was drawing a picture of us when we went camping.  She had to leave for school so she didn't get to finish her picture and left it out on the table. When I saw what she had drawn I was laughing and laughing.

Cats vs. Dogs: An Essay

Julia brought home this essay she wrote in school.  It was so cute I had to scan it so that I will have it forever.

Easter Outfits

Yesterday as we were running out the door for church when I thought to take a picture of the kids in their Easter outfits.  This year I let each kid pick out whatever they wanted and didn't have them match.  Each outfit fits their personalities perfectly.

Mitch was not a fan of the church hat.... my thought was if you can't wear a hat to church at age 7, then when can you?

My close up pictures of Julia and Cameron turned out terrible.  I guess that is what happens when you are in a hurry. :(   Julia was so happy with her outfit.  The scarf was the last detail to make it perfect in her mind.  I bought Cameron a suit and man does he look handsome.

Sassy

This morning Lucy threw some of Julia's things she was getting ready to put in her backpack down the stairs.  When Julia told her that it wasn't nice to do this Lucy said "I'm being sassy" and skip/hopped out of the room.  I think she summed it up quite nicely.

A couple of days ago Julia told Lucy that she was "Peanut Butter" and Lucy was "Jelly."  This morning when Julia woke up Lucy said, "Good morning Peanut Butter."  They are pretty cute together.

Crazy Hair Day

Crazy hair day might be the most important day of the year for these two.  We were up nice and early so that we could make sure to have the craziest hair possible.  The joys of being a kid!

Easter Bunny 2015

Saturday night we went to visit the Easter Bunny.  Lucy did not like him at all and Natalie would not get off his lap!  Cameron asked how old he has to be to not to get his picture taken with him.  I told him he will always have to so he can just get use to the idea.

Random thoughts:
  • Cameron and I now have the same size feet!  We bought him some new shoes while at the mall and I can't believe how big he is getting.  We could trade shoes but I think I will pass on sharing with a 6th grade boy.
  • Julia's pick to win the NCAA basketball tournament was eliminated this weekend, let's just say she was "a little mad".  The mood was great around here.   "I'm going to put my bracket in the shredder"- Julia Renae
  • Natalie and I had a talk on Saturday about the dos and don'ts of wearing leggings appropriately.  The talk fell on deaf ears as she had a 20 minute crying fest before school today because she was not able to wear the leggings how she wanted to. I am apparently "ruining her life."
  •  Lucy wants to "walk."  The minute we talk about going to the store she immediately lets me know she plans on walking in the store and not riding in the cart and she will make a scene if needs be!  This makes the trip to the store 3 times as long and painful.  Most the time I bribe her with Tic-Tacs if she will get into the cart peacefully.  Bribery works people!

STINKER

(This picture was NOT taken at her last appointment)

Last week Lucy had an eye appointment.

Lucy usually loves going to the doctors, any kind.  The appointment started out well.  Lucy loves the waiting room with all the toys.. it then went downhill very quickly.  Our doctor is a man, who might be the nicest guy you will ever meet....I mean the guy works with little kids all day.  On this day he came out to the waiting room and called us into a room instead of a nurse.  Lucy wasn't happy to see a man.  Things then went into a steep decline.  To meet us on the other side of the waiting room door was Jaco, the resident dog.   Lucy FREAKED completely out. She jumped into my arms and was screaming.  She HATES dogs.  The people at the Dr. office looked at us like we were the only people in the entire world who were not happy to see Jaco and were genuinely surprised at her reaction.  It was then and there she decided that she was not going to cooperate. at. all. for this appointment.

She refused to sit in the exam chair and as the doctor tried to start the exam he would point to an object on the page and ask what it was.  She refused to answer with a shake of her head, he then tried to have her point to the "duck" or the "hand" on the chart.  She made a fist and refused to answer or point.  She would not do any of it.  It was getting a little embarrassing, here I am in a room with the doctor and she will NOT cooperate on any level.  She freaked completely out when he tried to put a patch on her eyeglasses to test each eye.  After begging her and bribing her for what seemed like forever with all sorts of things she finally started to come around.  We finally got the exam over with and things ended up going okay, other than the fact I was sweating profusely by the time we left.  That night when Mitch asked Lucy how her appointment went and if she was a good girl at the doctor's office she told him "I was a good girl, but mom said I was a stinker."  Amen to that sister!!

Basketball Season

This sign was hanging on the door going into the gym for basketball.  This might be my favorite sign of all time!

The league pre named each team, kinda lame... Julia's team was the Spurs. She had a lot of fun playing and is really improving.

Cam's team was the Magic and had a 8-0 record.  Next year Cameron can't wait for church ball and hopes to play on the 7th grade boy's team at school.  Can he really be this old?

As with most sports after 8-9 weeks of practices and games I was glad to see it end and ready for a little break.  This was how Lucy waited out the last 9 weeks of practices and games....  playing with mom's phone.

St. Patty's Run

Our family's traditional St. Patrick's Day fun run was on Saturday.  It was a rainy, rainy day but we had a good time and came prepared.  This was Lucy's first official race.  She and Natalie ran the 1k and they were so cute at the starting line!  There were 149 1k runners and Natalie came in 7th (the 2nd girl to cross the finish line).  Lucy and Dad ran together and Lucy ran the entire thing without stopping.

Lucy was very excited about her medal and kept saying "My medal, my medal!"

Cameron and Julia ran the 5k

Here's the stats:
Cameron:  1st in his age group (age 10-11 year old boys), 12th overall out of 358 runners, time of 20:53 (6:44 a mile)

Julia: 2nd in her age group (age 8-9 year old girls),  115th out of 358 runners, time of 28:49 (9:18 a mile, with walking in the middle... you know.... it is a long race!)

All the hardware and  a change of clothes!

Here is the beginning and ending of the 1k.  You might want to turn off the speakers on your computer because my cheering may have you wanting to cut off your ears.

4th grade music concert

Julia had her annual music concert.  Here she is in the back row with all the boys.  She had a conflict with her basketball practice the night of the concert so we gave her the choice of which one she wanted to attend.  The music concert won out.  She got to play a guitar in the concert.  My favorite songs of the night were the Gooey Duck song and the song below:

No Work, No school

Three year old's can be so conflicting.  They are so cute on one hand and so darn maddening on the the other.  Lucy is just darling but if she doesn't get her way...watch out.  She has started calling people "stinkers" if they aren't doing exactly what she wants.  She misses the kids then they leave for school so when they get home she wants their undivided attention playing with her.  On the weekends she is so happy everyone is home.  She keeps saying over and over, "No work, no school!"  Weekends are the best.

She loves playing with her "Bah-bies"
