Dress Disaster

Sunday was a good day

Sunday we went to listen to Harrison speak in church.  He just got home from his  mission.  Paige is also in town from Georgia and blessed her brand new little guy. It was a nice day.
I let my girls wear their brand new matching Easter dresses to church, they looked so cute.  I LOVE their dresses--LOVE, LOVE blue and white.

Monday was NOT a good day

Monday I do laundry.
I washed the girl's new Easter dresses.
To my HORROR when I pulled the dresses out of the washer the blue on the dresses had dyed the white a lovely blue color.  Not only that but the rest of my whites in the load where also a shade of blue.  I spent the whole afternoon trying to get blue out of all my clothes and trying to make the DRESSES become white again.  I went to the store and bought multiple products to reverse the dye transfer.  No such luck on the dresses.

In fact the more I tried the worse the dresses became.  By the end of the night I was teetering on insanity.  Julia's dress was a mess and the other two were a weird shade of grayish-blue. My girl's Easter dresses are ruined and it isn't even Easter yet.

Tuesday I called the store I bought them from.  They were AWESOME and allowed me to bring them in and exchange them ALL for either the same dress I had before or something different.  I really wanted the same dress but knew that it would be a huge mistake since as soon as I wash them I know what will happen.  The new dresses are cute, maybe not as cute as the first ones but I am feeling much better now knowing that I didn't just flush three dresses worth of money down the toilet.

My Sunshine

This is my sunshine.

I don't know what it is about this age but it might be one of the cutest ages ever.  I can't get enough of her.   Lucy has started to carry baby dolls around the house, holding them, kissing them, and pushing them around in a stroller. I don't know how at 16 months she "knows" how to be a mommy other than it is literally her divine nature.

She loves to put on dress up shoes and walk around.  Unfortunately she has a hard time walking in them and gets frustrated and has started to throw mini tantrums when things don't go how she wants them to go.  The other day we had to put the high heels in a time out because she was getting so mad.  She loves shoes!

Lucy likes to help me with the laundry and when I say help, I mean unfold all the clothes and sit in the baskets.

With the weather finally getting a little warmer the kids have been going outside to play.  Lucy does not want to be left in the house.  She loves going outside and walking around.  Yesterday she kept grunting and pointing to the door telling me that she wanted to go out and play.  She still isn't talking, all she says is Da Da and the occasional Ma Ma but she sure knows how to get her point across!

Lucy knows how to fold her arms for the prayer and in church loves to sing.  When Mitch puts on music at home she becomes a dancing machine. She spins around until she is so dizzy she can't stand up.  She is definitely a momma's girl but sure loves her dad too.  She gives the best hugs by wrapping both arms around you and squeezing hard.  Man, I love this girl!

Cotton Candy and the Tigers!

Basketball just wrapped up for Cameron and Julia.  I am not sure what to do with all my free time at 6:00 pm any more!  Julia played on an all girls league that played every Tuesday and Thursday.  If the pink shirts weren't enough, what name could a group of 1st and 2nd grade girls choose that would be more fitting than Cotton Candy?!  This was Julia's first time playing basketball and she was excellent.  This might be her sport.  She made at least one basket every game and her defense was awesome!!

Cameron played in a new league this year with his good friend, Caleb.  This was a more "grown up" league than in the past. They played full court with referees, a scoreboard, whistles, calls--the real deal. Cameron also really liked how they got to wear "real" jerseys.

Stake Basketball

Stake basketball is in full swing.

We have survived January, February, and most of March thus far.  This is how you will find my two boys every Thursday night and all day on Saturdays.

The other day Cameron was doing his homework and he had a mug of water sitting next to him to drink from. This is SO much like his dad. I could have walked in and found Mitch doing this exact thing. It cracks me up how much they are alike at times.

DOGA-- A good laugh

I am not going to lie.  This might be one of the strangest, yet funniest things I have seen in some time.  And sadly I am not making this up!!  This flyer was sitting on a table at Natalie's dance class this morning.  I could not stop laughing. Who in the world would do this with their dog??  I told Mitch that I might need to stop in and see this in person!!  The lady and dog in this photo are too much....

St. Patty's Day Race

Last Saturday the kids participated in a St. Patty's Day race.  It turned out to be a lot of fun!

Cameron has been asking about this race for a few months now and I was hoping that he might forget about it considering last year I almost froze to death.  After checking the weather and verifying that we wouldn't have a repeat of last year's snow we signed the kids up.

Julia and Natalie ran in the 1k.  Julia came in 2nd and really has some speed with those long legs.  It will be fun to she how she does as she gets older.   Natalie, the little powerhouse, was about the 12th girl to cross the finish line.  She always wants to know what place she gets.  I am not sure where she gets her competitiveness from. :)

Cameron ran in the 5k and got 1st in his age division with a time of 21:59.  That is a pace of 7:05 a mile.
He got a trophy and a gift certificate to the Family Fun Center.

Lucy was just glad when it was over and we got to celebrate by going to Krispy Kreme for breakfast.  That is a breakfast for champions, right?!

Kindergarten here we come!

Last week was Kindergarten registration.  Natalie is officially signed up.  I only had a "few" forms to fill out! HA HA
We cannot wait!!!!!!!!!!

Hair Day

Lucy woke up this morning with her hair all messed up in the back.  This could only mean one thing....

it's a piggy tail kind of day!!!

It is sort of like a mullet..but instead of business in the front, party in the back-- it's bald in the front, pigs in the back!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Today my mom is 60!

I can say that because she doesn't have a gray hair on her head...youthfully young!

Yesterday we had a party for her to celebrate the big 6-0.  We had a "these are a few of your favorite things" party.  With everyone in the family spread out all over the country, we had each person in the family say one thing that they know that mom loves/ reminds them of her or something that is her favorite.  We gathered a present that represents what they said to go with it.

It turned out cute...

Here is the set up!

Some of the gifts were wrapped and some were left unwrapped.  Dad's present to mom was an iPhone 4.

Some of the things mom "loves" also were for the dinner.  Burgers, chips, root beer, her favorite salads, cupcakes, and chocolate chip mint ice cream.

Amy's was ...reading.  A gift card to Half Price Books

Sterling knows Linda loves...Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies

Mitch knows Linda loves banana runts

....puzzles

Griff's was a framed picture of everyone (minus Charlotte) this summer.  When asked what Grandma loves Griffen told his mom that Grandma loves his handsome hair!  So true Griff, Grandma does LOVE that!!

Okay, so I do know that Potato does not have an E on the end!

Well at least, she likes things to be CLEAN! (A bottle of dish soap that sits on the counter)

...and Peppermint Patties

...movies (A gift card to the movie theater)

Kara's was a cute pastel candy dish.  Mine was ...sudoku

...books (A bedtime story)

Some chapstick to moisten those lips!

This is by far the coolest wind-up animal on the planet!!

I missed a picture of Jefferson's but his was... Jefferson knows Grandma loves ICE CREAM, with a gift card to her favorite U-Top it frozen yogurt place.

The party planning committee!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!
WE LOVE YOU!!!!
