Barbie Bike

This girl loves to ride.  All day, everyday.  This is her "Bah-bee" bike"

Lucy has found with the warm weather how much she loves being outside!  She loves the trampoline, the clubhouse, riding bikes, sidewalk chalk, sandbox, and water.  When the kids get home from school she cries at them to go outside and play with her.  Lucy and the front yard are going to be a difficult mix this year, but this should be a fun summer.

Baby-Sitters Club

The other day I took the kids to the Goodwill to buy a book.  Julia found this book and read it in about a day and a half.  She was so excited about it when she finished.  I told her that when I was younger I loved these books and had a whole bunch of them.  When she asked what happened to them, I told her that I got rid of them.  She said, "Why would you do that?"  At this moment I have no idea what I was thinking!  I have spent the last week trying to win some on Ebay. Let me tell you...apparently these are hot items because I have had no luck.  I guess we will check them out at the library one book at a time.

I love that she loves them and I really love that she LOVES to read!  I have a feeling it is going to be a Baby-Sitters Club reading marathon this summer.

Girl Talk

Things that make you cry yourself to sleep at night....

Remember this from last June?

My beautiful backyard grass? It was just beautiful last summer. We watered, fertilized, it looked great.  About mid winter Mitch and I were looking out the window and started discussing how the grass in the backyard looked "dead."  We didn't think much of it because everything looks dead in the winter.  As time passed we started noticing that the grass looked like it was disappearing before our very eyes and come spring our backyard was literal pretty much dirt.  We have no idea what went wrong but it is gone.  The thought of starting over again this year made us want to cry.  Seriously.   Without many options, I mean can you just have a backyard that is a huge dirt pit?  The kids were filthy!  We (okay, so I will give credit were it is due: Mitch) ripped out the little bit of grass that was remaining, rototilled, got a LOT of new dirt, raked it out, hydro seeded, and now are praying that this works!

Mitch was a work animal with the dirt.  It was a full dump truck load and with my lame back I was unable to help him at all.  The next few months are going to be a challenge to keep it watered and keeping the kids off of it.  Can you say playing in the street?  Oh boy....

If this fails, I think we might just put in fake grass!!

Sweat the Bed

The weather has been lovely around here for the past little while.  It is making it hard for us to want to go to bed at night and do homework.  A few nights ago it was rather warm at bed time and Natalie was worried that she was going to "sweat the bed" in the middle of the night.  What is that you might ask? According to Natters it is when you wake up drenched in sweat and your pillow and sheets feel like you wet them but it is just sweat.  She cracks me up with the things she comes up with, but you know I hate when I sweat the bed too!

Alive

Yes, we are alive.  You might not know it by the state of this blog but we have been busy.  Lucy for one has been working on her mullet.  It is coming in quite nicely!
