A Long Day

Starting today and for the next week Cameron has early release day at school because of parent/teacher conferences. He gets home at 1:20 and today was a LONG afternoon. It is hard for a 6 year old boy to be confined inside and to be quiet while his sister is napping. Cameron reminds me of a tasmanian devil at times with the the speed and energy he possesses, it is non-stop! He and Julia were fighting all afternoon. Here are some quotes of the day from Cameron:

"Mom......Julia is being a maniac!"

"This feast is disgusting" (Cameron's comment on dinner)

"I am going to sit on the stairs" (Immediately said after popping a ball because he was being too crazy. A self-inflicted time out)

I definitely need to find things to keep him busy. Here is hoping that the coming week is a little less crazy and a bit more calm!

Birthday Girl

This girl is 2!

Natalie had a Pet Shop party. She liked the animals.

Blowing out the candles

This was Julia watching Natalie open her gifts. It's hard to watch your younger sister get a bunch of presents that you want.

Turkey Trot

This morning Cameron and Julia ran in their 1st 1k turkey trot!

They were so excited that they got up at 6:45 this morning ready to go. The race was on Snoqualmie Ridge at Cascade View Elementary. It was a nice morning but cold. The race was delayed 1/2 hour because of the the ice on the sidewalk and road.

The pre-registration was in the gym and Rocky the Raccoon, the Cedar View Elementary mascot was there to greet people. He was also at the finish line giving the kids high fives. Cameron LOVES humans dressed liked animals and wanted his picture taken with him. Julia on the other hand didn't want to get near the raccoon. Santa was even there to take pictures with the kids.

Here they are at the starting line. There was A LOT of people (326 1k runners plus parents!)The 1k race was open to parents running with their children. Mitch ran with Julia while Cameron took off. Mom and Natalie cheered the runners on.

Julia and Dad almost done with the race. I never got a good picture of Cameron because by the time I saw him he had already run by.

Cameron with his medal.

Julia fell in the last 100 yards of the race and when Cameron came through the finish line I didn't see him because of all the people. He was crying when I finally found him. Poor guy. Made me feel like a terrible parent. He cheered up pretty quick and I don't think I did too much psychological damage, well at least today. This picture is of both of them crying. Besides the drama in the end, we had a fun time and can't wait to do it again next year.

After the race was over they had a pancake breakfast for all the participants and their families. Yum!

State Cross Country

Mitch's boys team got 3rd in State 4A!

Cross country is all wrapped up but I just wanted to post this success. The Issaquah Cross Country team is very lucky to have Mitch as a coach! He is awesome at it and puts in a lot of extra time for the kids and they love him.

Halloween

The annual pumpkin carving festivities

Because of our schedule and the rain we didn't go to a pumpkin patch this year. It was a disappointment but we were just glad to get some pumpkins at Fred Meyer.

Cameron and Julia both got to have parties at their schools. Cameron's school doesn't celebrate Halloween at school but they had a Harvest Party on Friday. If they chose to they could dress up like a community leader on that day. Yeah....so he didn't want to. I can already see the brainwashing the public school has done on him. When we went to our ward Halloween party Cam came home and said "Wow, this was the greatest Fall Festival Celebration ever." Do we dare actually say Halloween?

Cameron the kangaroo. He got so hot in this costume that he could only wear his underwear under it. I think next year he needs to go as an Olympic swimmer then he won't be so hot. What was his mom thinking with such a hot suit...$5 at the Goodwill!

Julia got to wear her costume to preschool on Friday and had a Halloween party. Is it a coincidence that her BBF from preschool was also a witch? Hmm..... She was pretty cute.

Natalie was the hand me down elephant this year. Although it was sort of a cop out costume she still was cute. She made elephant noises all night. She insisted on wearing her costume to take Julia to preschool. She was not going to be left out.

The loot after the ward party!

Mitch had his district cross county race in Kelso on Halloween and was gone Friday and Saturday. He missed the ward party and trick or treating on Saturday. It was a real bummer. His boy's team got first place at districts though! I came down with the flu/cold Friday night and have been battling it ever since. Saturday during the day I was not feeling well so I laid on the couch and drifted in and out of reality. At one point I woke up to see that Natalie had climbed on to the counter and had gotten into the candy. She had three or four suckers in her mouth and was a sticky mess, sticky everywhere on her and the furniture. When I looked at her she says to me "Mama, Can-ee, Can-ee mama." I just had to laugh. Halloween night I was still feeling not so great so I had the kids go trick or treating with Grandpa Stuard. That was a great help. I think the kids had a good night despite the lack of parental supervision that day.

She is almost two!

Conversation with Natalie yesterday morning:
Mom: "Nat what do you want for breakfast, Cheerios?"
Nat: "Yes, I want the yellow, I want the yellow! [bowl]"
Mom: "Okay, you can have the yellow bowl." Here is your cereal"
Nat: Crying "No, No, NO... want Honey Comb, want Honey Comb"
Mom: "I thought you wanted Cheerios"
Nat: "NO" (more crying and anger)

Being too tired to care that morning I dump the bowl of cheerios down the drain and pour Natalie a bowl of Honey Comb. As I set the bowl in front of her the crying stops immediately and I hear her little voice say "Thank you"
Oh boy here comes the two year old!

Primary Program

Cameron and Julia had their Primay Program a week ago. They knew all the words and sang with gusto! They were darling. These pictures of them were right before the practice for the program. They want to get all dressed up. Cameron has been wearing the missionary badge to church for a month straight now.
