Turkey Trot

This morning Cameron and Julia ran in their 1st 1k turkey trot!

They were so excited that they got up at 6:45 this morning ready to go. The race was on Snoqualmie Ridge at Cascade View Elementary. It was a nice morning but cold. The race was delayed 1/2 hour because of the the ice on the sidewalk and road.

The pre-registration was in the gym and Rocky the Raccoon, the Cedar View Elementary mascot was there to greet people. He was also at the finish line giving the kids high fives. Cameron LOVES humans dressed liked animals and wanted his picture taken with him. Julia on the other hand didn't want to get near the raccoon. Santa was even there to take pictures with the kids.

Here they are at the starting line. There was A LOT of people (326 1k runners plus parents!)The 1k race was open to parents running with their children. Mitch ran with Julia while Cameron took off. Mom and Natalie cheered the runners on.

Julia and Dad almost done with the race. I never got a good picture of Cameron because by the time I saw him he had already run by.

Cameron with his medal.

Julia fell in the last 100 yards of the race and when Cameron came through the finish line I didn't see him because of all the people. He was crying when I finally found him. Poor guy. Made me feel like a terrible parent. He cheered up pretty quick and I don't think I did too much psychological damage, well at least today. This picture is of both of them crying. Besides the drama in the end, we had a fun time and can't wait to do it again next year.

After the race was over they had a pancake breakfast for all the participants and their families. Yum!
