Lucy- 12 Weeks

Winter Cheer Camp

Right before Christmas I signed Julia up for a three day cheer camp put on at the high school with the high school cheerleaders.  At the end of the 3rd day they got to perform the cheers they learned at half time at a varsity basketball game.  Julia was absolutely adorable.  We left Natalie and Lucy at home with Aunt Katie and spent a fun evening watching Julia cheer and Cameron got to see "his first high school basketball game ever."  She had a great time and it was something special that only she got to do!

They were selling special hair bows that Jules thought were so awesome, she just had to have one. What can I say her dad and mom have a soft spot!

Shoulder Licker

Yep, I am talking this little monkey!  Every time you hold her to your shoulder she starts licking it and making sucking noises.  She is the slobber queen.  As much as I hate it she might have to start wearing a bib during the day because she is so wet. ( I HATE when babies wear bibs as part of their outfits, I know I am weird!)

Elder Schvaneveldt

Dale came home Friday, January 20th after serving two years in the Joao Pessoa Brazil mission!  Laura made the comment how weird it was to see our brother struggling to speak English and being able to fluently speak another.  So true!

Originally I planned on taking Natalie and Lucy with me to the airport and to leave the two older kids in school.  The weather was absolutely terrible and it ended up that school was cancelled. I thought I might not even make it to the airport myself with all the snow.  The roads cleared up and I was so glad that I was able to take all the kids.  It was really fun.  Our power was still out so we spent the rest of the day in Bellevue hanging out and enjoying Dale.  Kara's family was trying to make it to the airport also but with all the bad weather the roads were closed. They made it here later that night and with the cousins in town it became one BIG, LOUD party.

Katie and Laura made these really cute signs for the kids to hold.  While we were waiting for Dale's plane to land Katie was holding the "We love you" sign.  A bunch of different people would walk up to her and say "Thank you" or "I love you too!"  It was quite comical and a little creepy at the same time!

Dale requested a root beer and a Subway sandwich at the airport that later made him sick!  Not ready to eat American food quite yet, beans and rice for him!!  They did send him home with de-worming pills, isn't that nice?

Cameron was so cute.  He kept saying to me "Wow, Dale is really tall" and "Dale is really funny." He wanted to know right away how many people he taught the gospel to and if he was cold now.

All the sibs that made it to the airport.

When Dale got home, the Christmas tree was still up with some presents.  Mr. Butters was all wrapped up waiting for him.  Sunday we went and listened to him speak in sacrament meeting and the kids loved going to class with cousins.  He did a great job.  Dad had Dale bless the food in Portuguese and the kids thought that it was so cool. We had such a fun weekend with family.  Thanks!!  The kids absolutely love Dale.  They would follow him around and pretty much attack him.  I took a small video of what they did to him the whole weekend.  He was nice enough to let them play with him.  Welcome home!!! We missed you!!

Snowmageddon 2012

The weather man predicted more snow last week than Seattle has seen in 25 years.  It turns out that its wasn't the biggest snowstorm we've seen but it was enough to cancel school ALL week and make a huge mess.  The first few days were the fun snow days that quickly turned into the non-drivable, slush, and ice.  The ice turned into freezing rain and an ice storm that had us lose power.  By the end of the week my patience for this storm was fading quickly.  Today we were finally back to normal...almost, a two hour delay of school and a whole lot of yard work for us in the near future.  The ice storm made a mess of our trees, breaking some major limbs off and lots of pine tree limbs everywhere.

Lucy's first snowfall!

She also tried a little sledding with the rest of us!

Natalie making a snow angel.  As you can see our winter snow gear is slim pickens.  Nat was squeezed into a WAY too small snow suit with rain boots and knit gloves.  Not the best for playing out in the snow.

We are fortunate to live around family that let us come hang out at their houses for awhile when our power was off.  THANK YOU!!!  We stayed warm in our beds at night but it was COLD in the house.

As we were driving to Bellevue to visit with DALE!! we saw the BP gas station bears covered in snow.  Julia said to me, "Those bears look like skunks!"  When I turned and looked at them it made me laugh.  They really did!

New Years in Coos Bay

We hit the road New Year's Eve morning to ring in the new year with our cousins. Cam's essay in school sums up most of the trip:

Lucy was an excellent traveler!

Ringing in the new year watching Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest.  A must!

Even Lucy stayed up till midnight and joined in the festivities.

We went bowling and I think that everyone of the kids cried while we were there at least once EXCEPT Lucy.  Good times.

Mitch playing what might be one of the funnest toys of the year, the Perplexus Maze.  Jefferson got it for Christmas and it is awesome.  I think I need one of my very own!  Unfortunately I tend to be inattentive to my children when I play. HA.

....so as you can see we had lots of fun over winter break!

High Heels

Julia got new Sunday shoes this past week.  She is in shoe HEAVEN.

I think it was a moment of weakness on her parent's part because now instead of 6 1/2 years old she looks about 16.

Christmas (Better late than never, right?)

Here is our Christmas morning in pictures:

Santa brought Julia her password journal she was wanting!

The girls and their new Princess Barbie Castle

Santa brought Cameron a REAL college football and two tickects to a Husky basketball game.  Later with some Christmas money that he received Cameron bought himself a REAL NFL football. Don't know the difference?  Just ask Cameron, he will be able to tell you.  He is fast becoming a expert on all stats that are  football and basketball. Need to know who won a game, what teams are going to the play-offs, who is best in what divisions?  Just ask him, he knows!

Santa brought Lucy a new stroller

Natalie and her big girl scooter and her own helmet!

New leggings....

...and a very cute hippo rattle!  The bald heads make them look like twins.

Cam got a cool checker/chess set.  Mitch taught him to play chess and he earned his Chess Belt Loop in scouts.  He is also in the process of teaching Julia to play and it is so cute to watch!

New hats for everyone!
