Day 8

After a crazy week, we were tired!  We headed to Huntington Beach for some rest and relaxation. This place is called "Surf City" for a reason.  The waves were huge!  They filmed Baywatch on this beach and we got to see our very own lifeguard come tearing out of his life guard house throw himself out into the water and swim out to a group that was too far out.  Not something you see every day!

The kids loved the waves and we spent most of the day playing in the sand, water, and soaking up the sun.  Mitch "Mr. I never get sunburned" got a terrible sunburn and I spent the day trying not to get burned.  That evening we headed to Downtown Disney to look at shops and see about that elusive elephant.  We did not find Dumbo he was nowhere to be found but we had hopes for the next day when we would head back to California Adventure to find him there.  I was getting a bit worried...good thing there is a thing called online shopping if we could never find him.  Lucy also was disappointed because every souvenir she wanted was vetoed by Mitch because of the price.

We really liked that every night at 9:30 fireworks went off.  We felt like Mary Poppins and the cannon that went off every day at a certain time.  We would hear the fireworks and then someone would say, "It must be 9:30!"

Late that night we all were introduced to Sonic. (You know... their commercials are all over in Seattle but there is like two in the whole Puget Sound area so no one has actually been to one).  It was awesome!  It could be that we had heat stroke and were extremely thirsty but whatever the case, that place was great.

Day 8: Hyatt House, Room #227, Too busy swim in the hotel pool, french toast, hash browns, and doughnuts for breakfast
