Lunch at Little Caesars
We stopped at the Trees of Mystery and introduced the kids to Paul and Babe.
For the past several months Natalie has been begging us to buy her a visor. I know this is going to be shocking information but visors are not that easy to find, not a lot available. The day before our trip I found this visor at Kohl's and it was love at first sight for Natalie. Who knew, that happiness could come in the form of a visor.
One of the things that there is to do at the Trees of Mystery is to take a Sky Gondola ride up through the trees. The gondola goes about 1570 ft up. This might have been the most terrifying ride of the whole trip. We were REALLY high up in the air. Once at the top, you get a really cool view of the ocean and trees. There are two ways down: Go down in the gondola (NO THANK YOU!), or hike down. There are signs everywhere saying that the hike is very steep and only for very experienced hikers. Of course, we decided that we were definitely experienced hikers and chose that option. Good thing they offered walking sticks for the journey down, they were needed! They weren't kidding about the hike down. We did enjoy the adventure and chance to stretch our legs really good before we got in the car for more driving.
We decided to keep track of how many state license plates we saw on the trip. We ended up seeing 46 states, 5 Canada Providences, 2 Mexico states and a Argentina license plate. Our rule was that trucks would not count and when we were at the Trees of Mystery we thought it would be cheating to use all the license plates we saw in that parking lot. If we had, we probably would have seen all 50. Later on we relaxed that rule and found a ton while at the Santa Monica Pier.
Night 2: Ukiah, CA, Super 8, Room # 228, 3 Queen beds, Mom and Dad had their own special room
Kids were introduced to the show Full House for the first time ever. This became their routine each night, to watch the 10 pm showing of Full House on Nickelodeon. They couldn't believe what the have been missing their whole lives.
