Finished!

I made a goal back in 2008 to read all of the Newbery Award winner books. It has taken me a few years, but on Saturday I finished my last one-89 books in all! It feels good to accomplished something that took some endurance to finish. I am proud to say that I read every last one and didn't quit any of the books, although tempting at times (some of these books were terrible and really took some effort to finish), while others were actually quite good. All in all I enjoyed it! Now what to read?

From the Stuard Vault

This morning I woke up thinking about some of the things the kids did that were so dang cute when they were small. Instead of cleaning my bathrooms like I had planned today, I sat and watched home videos of my sweethearts. Seriously, so cute. This is a "Cameron Classic" that makes me smile every time I see it. He is about 3 maybe a little younger in this clip. Enjoy the flash back-- the days of Cameron and his love of Mary Poppins.

Stinker

I'm talking this guy!

Case 1:
Tonight after making something less than desirable for dinner (according to Cameron) he asked me: "Mom, what don't you like to eat?" Thinking I was having a normal conversation with him I said "fish." "Well that is what I am going to choose for my birthday dinner so YOU have to eat something you don't like for a change!"

Case 2:
On Sunday while driving in the car Natalie told us that she wants to be a mommy when she grows up and is going to take care of her babies by changing their diapers. Cameron then piped up and said, "Well when I grow up I am going to be a dad and it is easy, you just put the crying kids in time out." Not five minutes later he says to Mitch, "Dad, I know what you do at work every day." Mitch said "Really, what do I do?" "You sit at your desk and work at the computer playing games till you come home."

Like I said--STINKER

Jinxed

Last week I called my sister to wish her a happy birthday. During our conversation she told me that she had to speak in sacrament meeting that Sunday and that she had just recently done it a few months before. I told her how much I HATE speaking in church and that I have been really lucky because I hadn't spoke in a long time.

That was my when I jinxed myself.

On Sunday a bishopric member found me and asked me to speak this week...I also have to teach Relief Society. Somebody seriously needs to call the wahmbulance for me because I am going to cry....

Then--

On Tuesday I went to help out in Cameron's class and his room was freezing. His teacher was telling me how the school's new roof is leaking in their classroom and it won't stop. The roofing material is bad and the roofing company now has to replace the whole roof on the school over mid-winter break. I was saying to her what a nightmare that would be and how leaky roofs are one of mine own fears. So expensive to replace. Well today as I was cleaning the house I found a spot of wet carpet and water dripping from the ceiling in the living room. Yep, our roof is leaking.

Ironic? I think I need to knock on some wood. My luck is turning for the worse!

Martin Luther King Day

I thought it would be fun to go to the Science Center on our day off. Unfortunately the rest of Western Washington had the same idea. The place was packed. Notes to myself - Don't go on a day when everyone is off. Bad idea. The older two seemed to enjoy themselves...Natalie could have used a nap instead, if you catch my drift.
After making fun of Amy all these years about her phobia of butterfly houses, I have to say I feel her pain. The place creeped my out. The butterflies are beautiful but they got me all jumpy. They swoop in and out and land on you. Yuck. After seeing one crushed by a boy who wasn't looking were he was stepping I was ready to get out of that place. I think I am one that appreciates them from a distance. Anyway... thank you Martin Luther King for the day off of school. As Cameron has been singing at home, "Dr. King, Dr. King, He was a civil rights leader. Dr. King, Dr. King he had a dream." Love the song...

Mouse Hole

My kids have it in their minds that if we bought a pet mouse we would cut a little hole in the wall and that is where it would live. Definitely too many Tom and Jerry cartoons! Can you imagine? I would NEVER have a pet mouse, for oh so many reasons!

Over the Christmas break Mitch took some time off and decided to get ambitious and see if he could find some extra storage space that is very much needed in our home. There is a small space under our stairs that is perfect for storing our Christmas stuff and a few other items. Mitch had to cut into the drywall and make a door for the new space. The kids were fascinated by this and thought Mitch was making a hole for a mouse to live. Natalie kept saying, "I'll get the cheese for the mouse!" The space is now lovingly referred to as the "mouse hole," but I better not find a real mouse in my hole or else! Mitch finished the project and the Christmas stuff was put away. The mouse hole is wonderful!

Seahawks Game

What a big day! Cameron and Dad had a blast at the football game. It was the first time for both of them to go to a Seahawks game and special that they could do it together. I was a little worried that Cameron might get bored or tired being at the game the entire time. No way! Cameron is a die hard fan.

When they got home both boys were a little hoarse! The game was a very exciting one and the Seahawks came out the winners against last year's Super Bowl Champions! Way to go Hawks!!

It isn't every day you get to go to a winning NFL playoff football game, Mitch and I hope that Cameron will be able to remember this special day with his dad for years to come.

NFC Wild Card Playoff Game

Guess who got tickets to Saturday's game?

That's right--Cameron and Dad!

They are SUPER excited.

Christmas came a little late for Cameron...his dream to go to a Seahawk game is coming true!

Dear PBS,

Once again you have neglected to contact me for approval of changing your children's programming line up. What am I to do without Curious George at 5 pm. Please advise next time or a little heads up would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Jesus wants Natalie for a Sunbeam!

Can it possibly be true? Natalie is a SUNBEAM!

Cameron has been talking non-stop about how he is now in SENIOR primary. Seriously, things are getting out of control, stop growing!
