Anecdote

Natalie is in 3rd grade.  Do you know what that means?  Daily multiplication fact practice.  Oh the good times...

Natalie has been a superstar learning her multiplication facts and is already on 6's.  Most days she is happy and cooperates but on days like yesterday she is literally impossible.  This is how it went yesterday:

Mom:  Nat, what is 6x6?

Natalie: Do we haave to do this right noow...

Mom: Yes.  What is 6x6?

Natalie: (Pouting, sulking and not cooperating) I don't know

Mom: Yes, you do!  What is 6x6?

Mom: Come on Nat, it is 36

Replay this conversation over again and again for the next 10 minutes with pretty much the same result.

Ten minutes later....
Mom:  Natalie, what is 6x6?

Natalie:  I DON'T KNOW

Lucy:  (Quietly playing barbies in the room)  36

Natalie:  LUCY! STOP IT!
