THREE

Lucy turned three!  Where did my baby go? This is a big girl.

A few months ago Lucy decided on having a "check up" party.  She was very cute all day with all her check up equipment and party supplies.

She is a pro at opening presents and would open one and go straight to another to rip it open.  Christmas should be lots of fun this year.

What is a check up party without a Doc McStuffins outfit?

Happy Birthday LUCY BABY!  We love you!!

Older kids

Julia is not feeling well today.  As I was going through my medicine cabinet the thought struck me, that one of the many benefits of having older kids is that when they get sick I can give them cold medicine!  It is wonderful.

My travels to West Africa

The first question I was asked when I brought Lucy in for her check up was if I have traveled to West Africa recently.  Ahhh.....are you kidding me?  No, no I haven't.  I think it is safe to say that we DON'T have Ebola at this time. Whew...

I took Lucy in for her three year old check up.  All of my kids have been almost the exact same weight and height at age three. So funny how that is.  Lucy loves going to the doctors. I mean LOVES it.  She brings her doctor kit and is completely enamored with everything going on.  She even got a flu shot and was pleased.  I wish I could have said the same thing for Natalie when she got her flu shot.  I was having a hard time getting an appointment through my doctors office so I took the other kids to a flu clinic at the school to get a flu shot.  We waited in line for more than a hour. When Natalie received hers she shrieked, "Mommy" at the top of her lungs.  It didn't help that when we stood in line for so long we listened to kids cry and scream about getting poked.  It totally freaked her out.

Here she is going to Julia's Dr.'s appointment this summer.  Loving every minute of it.

Glasses

Mom and Lucy spent the day at the pediatric Ophthalmologist.   Lucy liked the waiting room.  She was such a good girl getting her eyes checked but after about an hour and a half of getting checked out she was done.  When the doctor asked if she could look at his light one more time she told him NO!

Lucy is far-sighted and is going to be sporting a new look.  Hopefully this will help with her right eye that is crossing and she won't have to wear a patch.  She picked out some purple glasses and we think she is pretty cute.  Her eyes look a little strange with the glasses on because they were still dilated from the eye exam.  Hopefully she will like them when we get them in a few weeks and she will keep them on!

Happy Halloween

Last week was our ward Halloween party so we got to try out our costumes a week a head of time.  That also means that we have been on a sugar high for a whole week.  Just in time for tonight.  The kids look so cute in their costumes!

An Elephant-- again...
I actually was going to have Lucy be something else but when she found the elephant in the costume box she insisted. I wasn't about to talk her out of it.  Lucy got a few costumes for her birthday that she is still might be tonight.  A benefit of having an October birthday!

Cheese Sammich

Turns out Lucy's Terrible Two's might be more like Thrilling Three's...if you know what I mean.  This girl is OPINIONATED!  Every day Lucy wants the same thing for lunch, a ham sandwich.  She calls it a cheese sammich.  It needs to be cut a certain way and and she eats it a very specific way.  Don't try to change the way she eats it.  It won't work.  Here is Lucy Baby eating her lunch in her very unique style.  She now refers to herself as Lucy Baby and I love it!

Sisters

Love this picture!

So fun to have so many of my sister's living close at the moment.  We had a fun lunch at Olive Garden before going to the Women's Broadcast.  Julia was LOVING the fact that she was invited to attend.  Natalie was NOT loving the fact she wasn't.

Family photo

The other day we found ourselves re-creating an old family photo.  A few of us are just a few inches longer than the last time!

Stripes

Lucy LOVES stripes
She wants to wear them every. single. day.  When it is time to get dressed each morning she rummages through her drawer and tells me "I need stripes, I need stripes!" Depending on how compliant she thinks I am being with her demand the chant becomes louder and more demanding.  It's a good thing her wardrobe has a lot of stripes in it because if I try to put her into something else, it is not pretty.  What can I say, the heart wants what it wants, and Lucy's heart wants stripes.

Back to School

6th Grader!
Cameron's first day at Cedar River Middle School
This fall has brought BIG changes for us.  Cameron has six different teachers, a locker, PE clothes.... We are NOT in elementary school any longer.  The first week has been a success.  No tears and a smile on the first day home.

1st Grader!
Natalie is definitely ready to tackle all day school.  Her first week has been a success and loves the fact that she can eat hot lunch now.

4th Grader!
Julia is a seasoned pro at her school but is getting her first experience with a portable for a classroom this year.   She isn't sure if she loves it yet or not.

Lucy fully believed that she was going to school on the 1st day.  She demand she wear a backpack and even asked me for her lunch to go in her backpack.  It wasn't a pretty sight when she finally learned that she would not be attending.

I was ready for school to start and to get back in the swing of things.  I am really enjoying a few hours in the afternoon while Lucy is napping to get things done without interruption!

Just in case you are thinking that I am living the sweet life, I decided to potty train Lucy this week.  It hasn't been smooth sailing.... More to follow....

What? A new post?!?

Where do I start to catch up??  This summer has been a strange one!!  For me personally I am glad to put it in the history books. It has been one expensive medical summer.  I have had multiple health problems this summer that have kept me down and out..I was one sick mama.  Our family has also done a lot of fun things everything from birthdays to Wild Waves!  I am hoping with school back in that I can catch up on my blog. I want to keep record for myself of this summer as a reminder of all the many blessings that I have in my life. We are so appreciative of all the help from family this summer. We could not have survived without all the help and kindness shown us. Here is to a healthy fall and some new blog posts!!

School Wrap up!

The last few weeks of school are always a whirl wind of activities.  I think I was at the school almost every day for two weeks straight.  I was able to go with Natalie on her Kindergarten field trip to the Children's Museum.  It is always a good time to hang out with my peeps.  Next year Natalie is going to be in 1st grade with Mrs. Hanson.  She is very excited.

I volunteered to help during field day. That was exhausting!!   The 5th graders have a 5th grade tug of war at the end of their field day that is very fun.  Each class wears a class color to show spirit.   You know Cameron must have really been into the tug of war because his class color was PINK and he actually wore a pink shirt to school.  His class didn't win the tug of war but it was fun to be there and watch.  The last week EVER of elementary school for Cameron was filled with water balloon fights, kickball tournaments, and lots of fun.  This is a good thing because the last week was also filled with A LOT of tears and crying.  Half of the 5th graders will go to one middle school and the other half will go to a different middle school.  I think ALL of the 5th grade was crying on the last day of school.  Also to make it really hurt, Cameron's really good buddy moved out of state.  It was a tough week.

Julia is excited for next year because she got the teacher she wanted... Mrs. Bennison.  She also has her good friend in her class again.  I sense there is going to be some girl drama next year, so I am dreading that, but hoping for the best!

Here is the final day of school ,walking to the bus.  Cameron and the girls will never all go to the same school again!  Middle school here we come!

Trek Around the Trail

This year for our Stake fun run we had 4 runners!  Cameron and Julia ran the 5k, Natalie and Lucy the 1k.

Lucy might be the cutest thing you have ever seen running.  Seriously.

Lucy's 1k was more like a 1/2k because mom and Lucy cut through to speed up the running.. just a bit.

Natalie and the 1k

Cameron at the start of the 5k.  His outfit is really something.  Cameron just keeps getting faster-- He ran a 21:20 which is about 6:52 a mile.  He is loving running and is going to run cross country in the fall.

Julia decided that she wanted to run the 5k again this year.  She ran a 30:43.  I love how in this picture she is beating 4 boys in the background!

After three full years of being the Stake Sports Director Mitch was released.  He has done such a good job with this calling.  It has been a heavy calling that has taken a lot time and most of it  thankless.  It is hard to be yelled at by grown men on a basketball court week after week.
